Fashion through the lens

Recently (as of the last few months) I have discovered the medium of the fashion film. FARR OUTT MANN! They are all so unbelievably beautiful, displaying the clothing in a story adding another dimension of desire! Everything that happens in these films is so whimsical and innocent, it makes me grin with pure joy! I have decided that for my final year 12 film next year, I will use fashion films as a point of major inspiration! So many talented people in the world!

My favourite one that I have seen so far is 'The curve of forgotten things' for Rodarte which I have already posted below.
 'How you look at it' by Poppy de Villeneuve features clothing from Dolce & Gabbana, Calvin Klein and Givenchy. I really like the concept of this film, it has a train and water so I am automatically captivated! I catch the train home everyday and I find it to be the most serene experience as you are left to your own thoughts and listen to your own music while surrounded by a mix of all sorts of interesting people to gaze at, what could be better? From catching the eye of the man across from her, the lead girl takes us through a day dream she experiences. Learning to swim from the man is such a sweet little tale, playing on the idea of a short innocent romance. The one thing that disappointed me in this film was the choice of styling. I didn't think the girl fit the plot, she looked too hostile! 

The 'Miss Dior Cherie' commercial directed by Sofia Coppola isn't as in depth as the others along the lines of a story, however I still think it's worth noting because it's so cherry and bright!

I just really like this one!


'Viaggio Notturno' for Bottega Veneta reminds me of 'Mad Men' I like the masculinity of the film


I decided to include this because, although it is not a favourite I think the editing is really groovy and it's all very geometric which is cool. In the words of Kath & Kim, 'It's unusual, it's different, It's nice"

And finally, although overplayed, Chanel's iconic no. 5 is done with such expertise it's hard not to be wowed.
